Introduction: On the 28th of March 2023, our college organized a visit to the Kamla Dharamshi Narsee Shruti School, Juhu Mumbai which is a renowned educational institution dedicated to serving the needs of deaf students. The purpose of this visit was to gain insights into the unique educational practices, facilities, and overall learning environment provided by the school.

As we Reached we were given some background information about the school Kamla Dharamshi Narsee Shruti School, located in Juhu Mumbai, has been catering to the educational needs of deaf students for over two decades. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to empower deaf students and enable them to overcome communication barriers, maximize their potential, and integrate into society. 
  3. Facilities and Infrastructure: During the visit, we were impressed by the school’s well-maintained infrastructure and facilities that were specifically designed to support the needs of deaf students. Some notable facilities included: – Classrooms equipped Visual aids, and appropriate lighting for optimal visual communication. – Resource center with assistive technologies to facilitate learning.
    – Dedicated therapy rooms for speech and language therapy, audiology, and counseling.
  4. Educational Practices: The school employs various educational practices to enhance the learning experience for deaf students. Some key observations during our visit included:
    – Normal language as the primary mode of communication in classrooms, enabling students to be used to and ready for integrated classrooms

    – Multisensory teaching methods that combine visual, auditory, and tactile stimuli to reinforce learning. – Inclusion of extracurricular activities such as sports, arts, and cultural events to foster holistic development and enhance social skills.
